Holiday cards are here!

Emily I'm so pleased to share my 2008 holiday cards with you! The deadline for ordering these is December 1st, so contact me today about ordering!
There's a flat $75 fee for putting your card together, then they are $2 per card. They come in packs of 25 and include envelopes. They are 5x7 folded cards and all four sides get printed on -- they are beautiful, high-quality cards all your friends and family will truly cherish.
Here are the designs!

Please visit my Holiday cards page for a bigger look at these. The link also has a few other awesome designs!
I would like to give credit for these to the amazing Lisa Reichman. I've been stressed about these cards this year - since I am a designer, I felt obligated to make the cards myself. The problem is, I'm so spread thin with my schedule these days that there really just wasn't any time. I spent a long time looking for the perfect cards... cards that totally reflect my style and aesthetic, and I did find some great ones, but Lisa's just take the cake. I love every one of these cards and am so excited to offer them to my clients this year. If you're a fellow photographer looking for some holiday cards, definitely check out Lisa Reichman's designs - they're all so classy and sophisticated!

Virginia session openings for next weekend
Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 11:59PM | Posted by
Emily Next weekend I have session availabilities in southwest Virginia (NRV area). Both morning slots are available (8:00am!) as well as an afternoon slot on Saturday, November 22nd.
Also, since it's winding down this year and starting to get pretty chilly out, I'm discounting all sessions by $20 until 2009. This doesn't change your print credit amount, just the amount you pay me. These slots might go fast, so get in touch ASAP!
And because no post is complete without a photo or two... some outtakes of the animal variety from yesterdays session:

Rebecca | Bridal Session

Emily Before I share these images, you have to know that it was about 40 degrees on this morning.. maybe even a little colder! Rebecca was such a trooper though, it was really impressive. I am absolutely in love with her dress -- as soon as I saw her in it I got so excited, the wedding dresses I've been seeing lately just get better and better. It was such a treat to finally get to meet Rebecca. She was one of my first bookings for 2009 and I am really excited for her wedding!
As always, feel free to comment and let me know which one is your favorite. I've gotten a few emails from "lurkers" lately who have the kindest, most wonderful things to say... so I know you're out there! This is probably a good time for me to thank you for reading this - whoever you are - and taking the time to look at my work and send me nice messages. I get really emotional when I think of all the amazing emails and comments I've gotten recently. I appreciate every single message I receive and try my best to respond as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for supporting me and my work. I am so grateful to be surrounded by such kind and thoughtful people. You have no idea how much it means to me, so thank you, thank you, thank you. :)

Lydia and Chris | Engagement

Emily I've known Lydia for a few years. When I was in 10th grade, I started working at a really amazing homemade ice cream store in Charleston, WV. If you're from Charleston, you probably know of the place and you probably know of its decadence - I know I'd kill for some espresso oreo right about now! Anyway, I ended up working there off and on for about 7 years - it was a huge part of my life. I even still have a key! But now I've gotten off track. The point is, I worked with Lydia at Ellen's Ice Cream for awhile, and my memories of her are so great. She didn't like to get involved in the usual work place drama; she was just very, very nice. As catty as workplaces can be, I don't remember ever hearing anything bad about her. She is just that sweet!
So when she contacted me a few months ago to book me for her wedding, I was thrilled! I love reconnecting with people. When we all met up for the engagement session, it was like we were old friends... I actually can't believe all the great photos I got because all I remember was just chatting and chatting and having a great time! These two are so in love. They are unbelievable fun and our session really flew by.
The true surprise was when I asked about the proposal. I like to ask people about this because everyone's stories are so different and unique. Well, as soon as I asked, Lydia blurted out, "It's on youtube!" I checked that evening when I got home and yep, it is indeed on youtube. And it's gotten almost 70,000 views. Turns out, not only is Chris an extremely talented musician, he's also somewhat of a youtube celebrity! Here's his proposal -- prepare some tissues because it's so, so sweet.
And now for the photos... this couple is so freaking photogenic, I swear. I couldn't have narrowed this sneak peek down more if my life depended on it. Enjoy! And feel free to tell me which one is your favorite, I love to hear your thoughts.

This one's for you, mom.

Emily Last time I was home, I was able to pop into my cousin's baby shower for a few minutes before heading off to shoot a session. While there, my mother proudly displayed her new amazing shoes. As soon as I got back to Virginia that night she was pestering me for the photo. Why? Well not only is my mom cool enough to own these shoes, she also was dying to use the photo as her profile picture in gmail/gtalk. I love my mom.

But that wasn't the only awesome part about my 15 minute visit with family... I also got to see my beautiful cousin and my equally-beautiful aunt! Aren't they adorable? I love them.

So there you have it... a little bit of fashion and family. And really... what more is there? :)

Emily These are some of my favorite shots from my recent session with Emily in Charleston, WV. She was great fun to work with! It was awesome to discover that her mom has known my dad for a long time, too. That's happening a lot these days! :)
